Hallo,
Ik heb gisterenavond een e-mail naar defra in engeland gestuurd met de vraag hoe het nu precies zit met die rabies vaccinatie. Vandaag al had ik antwoord
Dit is de vraag.
Dear Sir, Madam,
I would like to know something about the Nobivac Rabies-vaccine.
Our two dogs have been re-vaccinated on December 15th 2005 with the Nobivac Rabies-vaccine from Intervet.
Chargenr: 74120D valid until December 15th 2008.
We have been in England for a holiday last year so they are already microchipped and they’ve passed the bloodtest in 2003.
They’ve also had the yearly boosters.
But in Holland the Nobivac vaccine is valid for 3 years .
Does it mean that we don’t need the yearly boosters anymore when we like to come to England again?
In other words, is the “valid until” date for England the same as for Holland?
I look forward to hearing from you,
en hier het antwoord
Good Morning,
The UK does not require annual rabies vaccinations. With regards to the Pet Travel Scheme inthe UK cats and dogs must be vaccinated for rabies by the 'valid until' date as stated on the rabies vaccine manufacturer's datasheet, this can be in one, two or even three years.
If the rabies booster your dogs received are valid for three years as stated by the rabies vaccine manufacturer's datasheet and there are no national laws in the country it is administered which requires pets to be vaccinated annually for rabies then your dogs will not require a rabies booster until the three years are up and can enter the UK under the Pet Travel Scheme.
Please note this would only apply if the vaccination used has a marketing authorisation in the country of use and it is a dead or killed vaccine.
