Most Complete Fresh Foods consist for more than 85% of meat. This includes bones and organs which contain calcium and other vital nutrients. A cat can not live on muscle meat alone! The other 15% consists of rice and added minerals and vitamins.
The 85% meat is basically BARF, except that it has already been ground in the factory (unlike barf, which requires a cat to chew).
Because every mineral en vitamin a cat needs can be found in meat as well, some CFF do not add rice or any other supplements. These consist of 100% meat.
Pro BARF:
BARF is slightly better for a cat because of the effort it costs a cat to eat bones. This helps strengthen and clean their teeth. Also, by giving BARF you have more control over what your cat eats. Thus you can follow those percentages of bones, organs and meat you consider optimal. The aim here is usually to make the percentages similar to those found in an entire prey animal.
BARF also allows you to give a more varied diet. (You can, for example, also consider rabbits, mice, rats and birds, besides chicken, turkey and beef) And it may be of better quality. After all, you never know the quality of the meat used in the production of Premade Complete Fresh Food. Most likely BARF is the cheaper option.
Pro CFF:
It's easy. You do not need to do any calculations. Just divide it into the correct portions and defrost it in time. It sort of resembles raw meatloaf or hamburgers. So it might be easier for you if you dislike handling bones or seeing resemblances to living animals.
